More yarns from Schoppel -->

Schoppel woolliterally enchants us with its high-quality yarns in an almost endless variety of materials, colors, color combinations and color gradients. Everyone knows the famous and popular magic balls that come in pure new wool, in the classic sock yarn mixture of new wool and acrylic and cotton from ecological European cultivation. But the magic balls are only part of the beautiful Schoppel yarns. Magic Wool, Magic Flower, Cashmere Magic, Cashmere Queen and Alpaca Queen, Gradient, Reggae and many more make us happy with flattering materials and dreamy colours. However, Schoppel goes much further with the awareness of a common world and a common future. The raw materials for the production of Schoppel yarns have a short supply chain and thus guarantee clear traceability to the origin. The knitting yarns are produced exclusively in Europe under environmentally and socially compatible conditions throughout the entire production process. Various types of wool are used to manufacture Schoppel yarns. The individual types differ in the fiber thickness of the merino wool. Coarser fibers are more resilient, finer fibers are less scratchy but more expensive. The fiber thickness is measured in microns. There is the following classification: Only merino wool from Patagonia is used for Schoppel products made of merino wool. The southern part of Patagonia cannot be used for agriculture due to the fall winds and is only suitable for keeping sheep. Sheep cannot be kept in factory farming, but rather serve to cultivate rural areas. In Patagonia, the sheep are less affected by insect infestation and therefore do not have to be treated with pesticides, and mulesing, which is painful for the animals, is not known there and is not practiced. The sheep live there freely and close to nature. They are only caught twice a year for shearing and health checks. For cotton yarns, Schoppel uses "Supreme Green Cotton", which corresponds to the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 and thus the highest product class I, which is also suitable for baby clothing. But Schoppel cotton offers even more: it also meets the criteria for the STeP (Sustainable Textile Production) and Made in Green by OEKO-TEX® labels. This means that the cotton is environmentally friendly and was produced using resources efficiently and under socially acceptable conditions. Supreme Green Cotton has been tested for harmful substances and has a longer lifespan due to its high quality. Schoppel uses biosphere wool from the Swabian Alb for the Albmerino and Alb Lino yarns. This wool is obtained from 2,500 sheep from the Stotz migratory sheep farm in the biosphere region of the Swabian Jura. Their special properties are a high resilience and a comfortable fit. The organic merinos are made from merino wool from Patagonia and linen from French cultivation. The Schoppel production facility in Wallhausen is GOTS-certified and thus meets the strict requirements for the seal throughout the production chain. The numerous sock yarns make up a large part of the Schoppel product range. The classic sock yarn contains 25% polyamide for the durability and durability of the socks with regular use. Since 2019, Schoppel has been using environmentally friendly and biodegradable polyamide manufactured using Amni Soul Eco® technology. This polyamide can decompose rapidly at the end of its life cycle, facilitating bacteria access and degradation to waste materials, thereby accelerating the biodegradation process. The fiber degrades in around five years through the earth's natural processes, but still retains benefits such as tear resistance. Because the degradation process does not take place in daily use.
